Call me Irene. Here are some fun facts about me!

I’m an aspiring author. I’ve written my share of articles, short stories, and bad fanfiction, and last year I decided it was time to take the plunge and do what I’ve always dreamed about: writing and publishing my first novel. This blog is where I share my progress as well as writing tips I’ve learned along the way and exercises to help you build your skills and keep them sharp.

My background and goals

Click here if you want to read my origin story. It’s silly, but there’s not much I can do about that. I’ve wanted to be a writer for most of my life, and just kept letting little things get in the way. Last year, I decided to make a change and challenged myself to complete a novel in a year. I did finish the rough draft. Now I’m cleaning it up so I can submit it to an agent.

I also participate regularly in the Writers of the Future contest. I can’t talk much about those stories, at least right now, due to contest rules.

The goal of this blog is twofold. I want to hold myself accountable so I actually finish my novel and other writing projects, and I also want to share information about writing with other writers. The information I share is pretty varied: writing tips and exercises, rules you may not want to follow, publishing and marketing tips, and pretty much anything I come across that seems like it might interest other writers.
